Anderson’s Iditarod Journal

Near-perfect conditions were reported as the 39th-annual Iditarod Trail Sled Dog race got underway Sunday. Former Forest Lake resident Ken Anderson led the 42nd team past the starting line in Willow, AK. The 63-team field will race 1,016 miles along the southern route to Nome. As of Wednesday morning, Anderson was in 22nd place and resting in Takotna, the eighth of 22 checkpoints.
