Cretin rolls to 71-49 victory over FL boys

A slow first half put Forest Lake in a deep hole Friday night and the Ranger boys fell in Suburban East Conference basketball play to Cretin-Derham Hall, 71-49. The Raiders rolled to a big 38-21 lead at the half and outscored the Rangers in the second half, 33-28 to claim the victory. Noah Davis scored 18 points and Tyler Rosenberger dropped in 16 to lead the Forest Lake offense.

Patriot Bank Minnesota, with headquarters in Forest Lake and two offices in Lino Lakes, was the latest area bank to go under. Regulators from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation closed the bank on Friday.

Sarah Chatwin lands LATV job

Forest Lake resident Sarah Chatwin has been hired to fill a part-time position as access coordinator for the Lakes Area TV, the Forest Lake Cable Commission has announced. Chatwin’s part-time slot pays $18 an hour and was set to begin Tuesday, Jan. 3. BR&E commencement celebration set for this Thursday at Forest Hills Golf Course

A leadership team has invited Forest Lake business owners to a commencement celebration to highlight all of the outcomes and goals of the Business Retention & Expansion program. The event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 8 at Forest Hills Golf Course. There will be a social hour and appetizers from 4-5 p.m., followed by the program presentation 5-6 p.m., and will conclude after a question and answer session 6-7 p.m. The event is a result of a first-year city program sponsored by the Forest Lake Economic Development Authority in partnership with the local city council and the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. Business owners have been contacted by postcards, as well as e-vites and personal phone calls.

Signing day: Six Rangers headed to D-I

One day after the national fall signing day for high school athletes, seven Rangers declared their intentions to play college sports during a program at the Forest Lake High School gymnasium this afternoon, Nov. 10. Six of the seven will head to Division I programs. The University of Nebraska will draw two athletes from Forest Lake.

Corcoran, Kieger, Rapheal, Theisen win FL School Board seats

The two incumbents in the Forest Lake School Board race both won reelection on Tuesday to four-year terms, but it was a former school board member who claimed top billing. Julie Corcoran, who previously served on the board, led all candidates with 3896 votes. Incumbents Dan Kieger with 3482 votes and Rob Rapheal with 3344 votes were also returned to the board. Claiming the fourth seat was first-time candidate Gail Theisen with 3246 votes. Three candidates were defeated in their bids for the school board.
