FL varsity hockey teams drop Saturday games
Sunday, February 5th, 2012It was a pair of defeats for both the boy’s and girl’s varsity hockey teams in Suburban East Conference action on Saturday night. The Ranger boys dropped a 4-2 decision to East Ridge. The victors scored a pair of goals in the first and third periods to pull away from the Rangers. The Ranger girls lost a 6-2 decision to Mounds View. The Mustangs put the game away with three goals in the first period and two in the second period.
FL girls nip Cretin-Derham Hall, 50-48
Saturday, February 4th, 2012Forest Laked trailed Cretin-Derham Hall, 27-25 at the half, but rallied in the second half to capture a 50-48 victory over the Raiders in Suburban East Conference girl’s basketball action. The win improved Forest Lake to 11-9 overall and evened the club’s record in SEC play at 6-6. Bailey Norby scored 15 points to lead the Rangers while Sam Anderson dropped in 12 points. The Rangers survived a poor free throw shooting night. Forest Lake went 11-21 from the line but managed to pull out the victory.
Cretin rolls to 71-49 victory over FL boys
Saturday, February 4th, 2012A slow first half put Forest Lake in a deep hole Friday night and the Ranger boys fell in Suburban East Conference basketball play to Cretin-Derham Hall, 71-49. The Raiders rolled to a big 38-21 lead at the half and outscored the Rangers in the second half, 33-28 to claim the victory. Noah Davis scored 18 points and Tyler Rosenberger dropped in 16 to lead the Forest Lake offense.
Ranger boys net key ice win
Saturday, February 4th, 2012Forest Lake trailed Cretin-Derham Hall, 2-0, after one period on Thursday night, but stormed back to claim a 6-4 win in Suburban East Conference boy’s hockey action. The Rangers exploded for five goals in the second period to take charge of the game. The Raiders cut the lead to 5-4 early in the final period before JT Jurisin scored at the 10:10 mark to give the Rangers the insurance they would need to protect the victory.
Traffic stop by FLPD leads to drug arrests
Friday, February 3rd, 2012Jennifer Mevissen Staff Writer A traffic stop by the Forest Lake Police Department at 12:16 p.m. on Thursday at W. Broadway Avenue and I-35 resulted in two arrests for drugs. According to Sgt. Mark Richert, a random check of the license plate by an officer revealed a warrant out for the arrest of the vehicle’s owner. Five and a half grams of methamphetamine was found in the search, he said, noting both the driver and passenger were arrested.
Hastings stops FL in key SEC wrestling contest
Friday, February 3rd, 2012Forest Lake’s bid for a Suburban East Conference wrestling championship ran into a roadblock on Thursday night as second-ranked Hastings defended its home mat with a strong 40-23 victory over the Rangers. The seventh-ranked Forest Lake team came into the SEC contest with a perfect 8-0 record only to fall to the strong Hastings club.

Members presented cash prizes to first, second and third place winners in each category. North Lakes Academy had four winners.
